I have 2 days until my Water Fast begins, and therefore, I have 2 days left on my Eden Diet. My progress is way beyond the 33 pounds I’ve lost or clear smooth skin or strong clear finger nails or shiny hair or the 4 sizes I went down or increased energy and sound sleep. My true progress has been in recognizing my true purpose in life. I have begun a journey to unite my mind, body and soul.

I have entered the third stage of my life.

Dr. Carl Jung states in his essay The Structures and Dynamics of the Psyche, “The wine of youth does not always clear with the advancing years; sometimes it grows turbid.” Dr. Wayne Dyer puts it another way, “What was true in the morning is most definitely a lie in the evening.” In other words, as we mature into our midlife and late years a struggle ensues in what we believe is in our minds – some call it a midlife crisis. We begin to ask ourselves, “What am I doing here?” We struggle, because we are striving for the same goals and purposes of our youth. We are not attempting to seek out our true purpose.

Instead, we are focused on how much money we make, what kind of car we drive, the kind of clothes we wear, all of these “defining assets” consumes us into a crisis. Continuing to pursue the goals of our childhood may result in a midlife crisis or divorce or neuroticism or worse; because it’s never going to be enough. Our Ego will never let it be enough.

I have surrendered myself and became free of fear, uncertainty and doubt. I found my true purpose. I only seek to serve. I am at peace and truly understand my path.

After four weeks of eating nothing but nuts, fruit and raw vegetables I feel amazingly well. I lost a total of 25 pounds and feel like I’m in my teens again. I feel so good that I’m beginning to prepare for my Water Fast; my Cleanse begins on the 25th of this month. I’ll go 35 days only drinking distilled water; I will consume no food just the distilled water. My current preparation consists of three pieces of fruit per day for the remainder of my Eden diet – 7 days. I’ve been eating this menu for the last three days and my appetite has increased slightly.

Eating approximately 350 calories per day will do that to a person.

I have an apple in the morning, a banana during midday and an orange around 5 p.m. I’m still drinking a gallon and a half of water per day to stay fully hydrated. My concentration levels and attitude haven’t changed; I’m still a happy guy. My blood pressure is currently 109/70. Even though my blood pressure keeps going down; my current readings are considered normal for a healthy adult.

My exercise regiment has changed as well. I’m now exercising 5 days per week and walking 3.5 miles per day; I’m averaging 17.5 miles per week. When I start my water fast I will continue to exercise, but at a much lower rate. I’ll keep walking 5 days per week and instead of walking 3.5 miles I’ll walk 1 mile per day – only if I feel up to it. I might have to discontinue my entire exercise routine depending on how I feel.

My resting pulse is also lowered since I started; when I started this diet my pulse was 100 BPM and now it is 70 BPM – very promising. I’ll continue to monitor my vitals during the entire fast and keep everyone posted of my success.

I can’t wait for my water fast to begin. If you have any comments or concerns please let me know. Thank you.

A funny thing happened on the scale today. I have now lost 19 pounds in 20 days. Impossible? Apparently not. I last reported that I had lost 15 pounds in 13 days, and since, my weight loss has slowed down considerably. My diet has not changed, my sleep is the exactly the same and I drink the same amount of water. The only part of my daily routine that has changed is the frequency and intensity of my workouts. I began walking 2 miles, 2 to 3 days per week and now I walk 3 miles, 4 to 5 days per week.

I must be adding muscle.

But how? My caloric intake has stayed well below 1000 calories per day on the Eden Diet. Is this possible to build muscle taking in less than 1000 calories per day? Not if you read Ironman Magazine. According to Ironman Magazine you have to do 10 bare essential things to gain muscle:

1.Weight Train

2. Eat more Calories

3. Eat more Protein

4. Eat more Often

5. Eat more Fat

6. Drink more water

7. Take a multi-vitamin

8. Take antioxidants

9. Rest more often

10. Be Consistent

I have done exactly ZERO things on this list; and yet, I still gained muscle this last week. There is a site whatthebleep.com and on this site is a documentary that everyone should view. The documentary explores the world of Quantum Physics, Neurology and Molecular Biology in relation to the spheres of Spirituality and Metaphysics. The human body is a mystery, to us all, and science is just beginning to explore the possibilities of cleansing and low calorie (low compared to the Standard American Diet guidelines) diets.

My usual results are still visible: soft skin, high energy and I sleep very well. I only need 6 hours of sleep a night, when 8 hours was never enough. My skin was always dry and now my skin is always smooth and well moisturized, without adding any kind of skin product.

I have energy to burn on a daily basis – and I’m a single parent. That’s saying a lot. My physical weight loss should be 70 pounds by the end of my Eden Diet and Water Fast. That’s losing 70 pounds, in 70 days. We’ll see how it goes.

When I started my specific goal was to gain control of my appetite through a spiritual fast. I’m doing this everyday and with great success. My spiritual awareness is a life long journey and will not be completed at the end my 70 day cleanse; but I have made significant breakthroughs thus far. The best way to explain it is my overall sense of calm – I feel so comfortable. What can be tracked is my overall health in terms of my weight, blood pressure and other noticeable changes I’m experiencing. The statistics seem improbable, but they are true.

Day 1

Height – 6′0″

Weight – 242 lbs.

Blood Pressure – 131/87

Day 12

Height – 6′0″

Weight – 227 lbs.

Blood Pressure – 111/77

I didn’t grow any; I just put my height in there to give you a frame of reference on overall size. In 12 days I lost 15 lbs., dropped my systolic number (top number) by 20 points and dropped my diastolic number (bottom number) by 10 points. I did it with no medication and I exercised exactly the same as I did prior to starting the Eden Diet.

I was pre-hypertension just 12 days ago and now I’m not.

Other noticeable changes are: my finger nails were fraying at the tips and now they’re fine; my overall flexibility has improved; I sleep like a rock and before I woke up at least twice during the night; I had dry skin, and now my skin is smooth; I had small black heads on my nose and now they are gone. I’m sure there are a bunch more, but those are the obvious ones. I’m not a doctor and in no way am I coercing anyone to try what I’m doing without first consulting a physician, but to me the effects are obviously a result of the Eden Diet.

In prior posts I wrote that I expect the same weight loss and improved health to continue and my opinion is still the same. Again, if anyone is interested in attempting a cleanse please consult your physician first.

That much weight in 12 days – impossible!

I’ve read that most “experts” will say that I’ve lost water weight. I think that is unlikely since I drink almost a gallon and half of water a day. Others would say it was an increase in exercise, but I purposely exercised exactly the same as I did prior to the Eden Diet. Another would say that my severe drop in caloric intake is the reason and body is merely feeding off my muscle. I can’t dispute that one, because I have no way of not disputing it – right now. In time, we will see as I continue to drop weight and make progress.

I continue my journey and post my results on a weekly basis. Thank you for reading and if you have any comments please leave them. Thank you.

I cannot answer for every day going forward, but I realized every day is going to be the same to report, so I’m stopping my Eden Diet posts and I’m only gong to report on a weekly basis.

I realize, in my first ten days, I made a spiritual breakthrough. I woke up this morning feeling aware of the difference between my false center and my true center. I’m beginning to realize why people fall into yo-yo dieting, drinking and drug abuse. They begin for the wrong reasons; and never find it within themselves to regain control.

I’m not the only person that has stated this but, “there is a spiritual solution for every problem.”

I believe it, now more than ever. I no longer crave fatty foods; I do not have those late night, midnight or 2 a.m. cravings for ice cream or chips. I’m free of that burden. How did I do it? You probably think I had some kind of assistance like a pill or hypnosis? You’d be wrong on both accounts. I just simply asked myself a question.

Am I doing this for my ego or to better myself?

Simple question and I applied it this morning. I know what I’m directed to eat on this Eden diet: raw fruits and vegetables in their unaltered state. Basically, I can’t cook anything that I buy. I buy fruits and vegetables fresh. Why? Because, these foods have a high water content and assist in the cleansing process – the removal of toxins from my body. It’s an easy concept, ask any dieticians and they will tell you the same thing. They will tell you to eat more water.

You can eat more food for fewer calories.

So I asked myself: do I want to eat two pieces of toast with butter or a mango? I chose the mango. Let me tell you why. The mango is better for me, I can eat more for less calories and this fruit assists in my cleansing process, which will remove toxins from my body. So why was I struggling a day earlier and not this morning? The day before my ego was saying to me,

“What’s wrong with toast and butter? Actually, it’s not even butter it’s “I can’t believe it’s not butter” so it’s good for you. You love toast, why are you denying yourself? I’m a grown man; I can eat what I want, when I want and how much I want.”

There is the answer. My ego wanted the toast, but I chose the mango. I’m eating to better myself, not to satisfy my ego; I have come up with a spiritual solution for controlling my appetite. Stop listening to my ego.

How did I come to this conclusion? I had a dream that assisted me in this revelation.

I awoke this morning feeling every bit of anxiety a person can feel. I woke up feeling defeated from this dream. I was disoriented and felt true fear. It was unlike any dream I ever had. One I could not wake up from or break free of, it was a high dose of anxiety in a dream state. I was terrified. I awoke thinking, did I take something? Aspirin, a few drinks, anything? And I didn’t. I just ate my fruit and drank my distilled water, as usual. It was intense, and from this dream, I realize that my struggles stem from conflict with my ego. I’m talking about every struggle past and present. All are ego driven. My dream was no coincidence. My unconscious self is assisting me in achieving my spiritual goal. Jung put it best.

According to Carl Jung, dreams are a way of communicating and acquainting yourself with the unconscious. Dreams are not attempts to conceal your true feelings from the waking mind, but rather they are a window to your unconscious. They serve to guide the waking self to achieve wholeness and offer a solution to a problem you are facing in your waking life.

My dream, presented a solution, to my problem.

Solution in hand I had one of the most productive, carefree days since I started ten days ago. I felt in complete control of my appetite and was calmer than usual. I went about my day feeling at ease. It’s soothing. By no means do I feel like I reached some pinnacle in my spirituality; absolutely not, I feel like I have finally broken through a barrier and my journey is just beginning.

I’m excited.

Today was the most difficult day for controlling my appetite. I don’t know what it is; maybe, because it’s Friday? Fridays is pizza night. Friday was the start of a relaxing weekend filled with take-out food for dinner, fast food for lunch and breakfast is always pancakes. Friday is definitely a binge day and night for large majority of Americans.

You see it all the day on Facebook and Twitter – TGIF!

When I was in the corporate world and the office went out for lunch, Friday, was the day everyone said “what the hell, it’s Friday, I’ll have the fries.” Has years of making Friday my own personal day to let loose made my body crave fast food, alcohol and the urge to go hang out at a bar?

I’m guessing that is what I’m attempting to control today – years of redundancy.

No worries. I made it through today with full control over my appetite. Although, I am noticing a pattern with my daily struggles. My weak “time of the day” is between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. I know that seems like a big gap, but it really makes a lot of sense – late morning, lunch and mid day snacking. Late night I’m fine. After the first three days my late night cravings went away. I rationalized not eating after 6 p.m. just by repeating to me, “you’re going to bed in a few hours, do you want to sleep well or give into something that has is going to make you sick?” Easy answer if you think of it in those terms. Plus, working out later in the day curbs my appetite; while working out earlier in the day accentuates my hunger. Late day workouts it is.

On a parenting note, I spent a better part of today just playing with the girls and it was great. We made moonsand sandwiches (they tried to make me eat them), rode bikes, swam in the pool, played on the swing set and then my mom took them out so I could get some mid-day work completed. It was fun, fun, fun.

After a full week on the Eden diet I feel great. The best I’ve felt in a long time. I can definitely attest to the physical effects and results (I lost 7 pounds), as well as, the commitment it takes to overcome such a challenge. I’m feeling so good that I’m going to stay with the Pre-cleanse for the full 35 days before starting the 35 day water fast. My decision is based on the more toxins that are out of my body, pre-fast, the better I’ll feel going into the actual fast. My goal is to eliminate as many toxins out of my body as possible before the Water Fast.

If you have questions or concerns please leave a comment or if you are attempting a fast please let me know as well. The more, the merrier.

I was headache free all day. I was even able to carve out a little time to go see a movie – it was fun. Besides the news of not having a headache, the day was pretty uneventful.

Although, I should add that being around so much food and not eating was challenging today. My kids had blueberry pancakes this morning and for dinner it was spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread. I was extremely tempted during dinner to eat something with salt! I have to say that is my biggest craving – salt. Right now I can eat an entire sleeve of saltines without having any disregard at all. I’m not though. This Cleanse is about controlling my appetite and not giving into temptation.

I’ve also experienced a fair amount of spiritual clarity as well. The times when temptation takes hold of me, I just leave the room and think about the spiritual journey as well as regaining control of my most primal urge and I persevere.

Salt, really isn’t important at all.

I’m reading a book by Dr. Wayne Dyer, Your Sacred Self, and there is a sentence in the beginning under, Suggestions for Meeting the Challenge of Freedom – “Think of yourself as limitless as you make a new agreement with reality”. Basically, it means to picture yourself able to accomplish anything your mind can envision. I’m allowing my beliefs to be changed. No longer am I going to let a Standard American Diet lead me through what I should and should not consume on a daily basis. I’m changing my prior beliefs.

I’m transcending my current reality – feels good.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns please let me know. I would love to hear what you think on this entire subject. Thank you for reading.

Today was a great day. I really didn’t expect to feel this comfortable five days into the Pre-cleanse. The lemon enema last night really helped in carrying away much of the toxins that were giving me the headaches. I also exercised today. I walked 2 miles. I had small headaches in the late afternoon but, after I exercised it went away. Proof that exercising releases toxins from your body, in other words, everyone should be doing some sort of exercise every day.

Following this kind of diet really hasn’t affected my parenting at all. I’m pretty even tempered person to begin with and haven’t deviated from my usually personality at all. There is no reason why the rest of the Cleanse should go as smooth as it is going so far.

I read some pretty crazy stuff online regarding a person that fasts for over 160 days at a time. I thought I was being extreme. In fact, he fasts for so long that he experiences severe hair loss due to the drop in estrogen in his body – WHOAH! The good news is after he stops his hair grows back thicker and lusher than before he fast. Maybe, you follicle challenged men out there should give it a shot? To each his own, I guess.

On a professional note, my writing is more focused. I think instead of me going over and over my work I put it on paper and move quicker through my process. I know that I have very little time before my energy dips or I lose focus, so when I’m moving at a good pace – I’m moving fast. I had a writing assignment due yesterday. The overall process usually takes me a day at the most and this one took me 2 full days. Concentrating was very difficult and I had to walk away from computer many times to drink water, water and more water. I feel great though knowing I don’t need caffeine to wake me up in the morning.

Did I mention how well I’ve been sleeping? I haven’t slept this good in years, I actually wake up not feeling groggy or tired. I also need less sleep. Don’t get me wrong there are times during the day I could use a nap, and if possible I do, but I only had an opportunity once and it was on the first day. After the first day I couldn’t because, well, I’m a single parent.

I’m still going strong and I remain committed to my goal of the 35 Day Water Cleanse as soon as these pre-cleanse symptoms go away. If they continue I’ll just do it for 35 days and then go into the Water Cleanse. If you have any comments, concerns or cleansing stories you would like to share please do. Thanks for reading.

I have been under extreme duress these last 4 days. Who has been holding me captive you say? The toxins in my body have been. My body is undergoing a Cleanse and even at this level, the pre-cleanse level; I’m experiencing sign of toxins being expunged from my body and poured into my bloodstream at a high rate.

I’ve had a headache for four days now.

Not a sharp throbbing headache, but a slow pulsating one. When I go to bed, it’s there, and when I wake, it’s there, it never leaves me. If I stand up too fast I get extremely dizzy. I take a nap in the middle of the day, usually for an hour, or if I can’t I get extremely tired and lose focus around 3 p.m. The only reason I’m able to write this post is because I took a lemon enema and I feel great. They really are fantastic.

Just for kicks I weighed myself this evening and I lost 5 pounds. I highly doubt it’s due to actually body mass loss or “water weight”, since I’ve been drinking over a gallon a day – it’s toxins that were in my body. They came out during the enemas I’ve been doing once day. The lemon enemas are the only thing that takes away my headaches, if only for a short time.

Funny thing through these past days my appetite really hasn’t been pulling me to all kinds of foods. I really do not have a problem preparing food for the kids at all. When they eat I can stand or sit there and watch them and not really feel compelled to dig in at all, quite astonishing. I really haven’t had to lock up the cabinets or anything like that – the hunger part has been nonexistent.

Tomorrow I’m going to exercise. Getting the blood pumping will assist in the cleansing and help remove the toxins through my skin in the form of sweat.

If you have any questions or concerns please ask and all comments are welcome as well.
