My girls love Lunchables. Kraft foods has carved out a niche that all of us single parents wanted and needed, for our elementary school children anyway, a quick lunch kit. My girls do not like all of the Lunchables like the pizza ones. I tried them and they are not the same as “real” cold pizza. Add the unfamiliar taste with the only time I ever ate cold pizza was in my twenties and usually followed a night of hard drinking, and you get, blah.
Note to Kraft foods: cold pizza is for teens and college students, not toddlers.
What kid wouldn’t love bologna and cheese Lunchables? Bite size bologna, good! Bite size cheese, good! Crispy crackers, good! Chocolate chip cookies, good! My kids get to take a lunch to school and feel great because I “made” them lunch. I’m no longer the dad that throws money in my kids backpack or more importantly; I’m not the dad that forgets to put money in my kids backpack. I pack their thermos separately because the lunchable with the drinks are god awful. Who likes cherry flavored Capri Sun?
Note to Kraft foods: we all know why you put cherry flavored Capri Sun in the Lunchables, no one buys that flavor, and therefore it increases your profit margin.
As a single parent time is not in abundance so, we need to increasingly find ways to maximize our time, and therefore, I pose the question – what about an adult size lunchable? Throw four pieces of bread in there, a couple slices of turkey (I haven’t eaten bologna since I was eight), I’ll pass on the cheese (trying to limit the amount of dairy), a couple of graham crackers or I really like vanilla wafers and throw a bottle of Dasani in there for an appetizing, healthy lunch.
I would eat that lunchable.
Note to Kraft foods: single parents want to live healthier lives and would really appreciate a quick and easy solution to eating a healthy lunch.
If you have any comments or want to share your kids’ favorite lunchable please do. Thanks for reading and Happy Friday!

I have to admit that we do the lunchable every once in a while but it is always the turkey and cheese… that is all she eats. Now she is all about salads – wish they could figure out how to keep a crisp salad in a lunch box!

Lunch is a challenge! My kids are very particular about the types of sandwich I give them. They’d eat leftovers, but don’t want to deal with tupperware afterwards. They are not fans of lunchables – they prefer picking their juice flavor and snack themselves!
