Being a single parent my internal dialogue has always directed me in both good and bad directions. There is a quote, I just love, from a seminar I attended given by Mike Lipkin, he said “Feed the right lion”. The meaning goes something like there are two lions in our mind and one is fear, doubt and uncertainty; the other lion is assurance, certainty and courage. The two lions battle each other constantly in our mind when we are saddled with conflict and the winner is the one your internal dialogue feeds the most. When we are most vulnerable is during those darkest times and when we are alone. He went on, “Do you feed yourself doubt, fear and uncertainty or assurance, certainty and courage during your darkest hours?”
Take some single parenting advice – feed the right lion.
